Competitive research
My goal is to find out how to create a trustworthy site, how to avoid making a site that could cause users to complain, and to know from competitors how they showcase their projects that have been done. So, I observed and collected data from travel agents' websites and their online customer feedback.
Renova Green's competitors
1. Eltex
2. Mars Solar
3. Energue Expert
Brands that have several different products and services
Now Renova has 2 different products and services (green energy and cleaning services). To combine 2 products in one website, I'd like to get inspiration from the websites of the brands whose different kinds of products and how they merge those products in their websites:
1. Samsung
2. Tesla
3. Apple

Solution: before & after
Buttons
To avoid creating confusions on users and help users to scan the website, I standardized button shapes based on Renova brand colors.
After
Before
Imagine a website where the button looks different. Some rounded, some square, and others oval-shaped. This inconsistency creates confusion for users and slow down their process within the website.
Users struggle to understand the purpose and functionality of the buttons. They're wondering, "Can I click this?" or "Is it just decoration?".
Standardize button shapes based on Renova brand
Inconsistent button shapes create confusion
What I learned
1
Challenges with client's point of view
When I suggest clients to use engaging pictures, writing, and logos to make a client's website look more professional, clients don't see it as a good intention. They see my suggestions cant take their team to spend more time double-checking their choices and slow down the process. They prefer to pick things based on their preference, even if they don't have rational reasons.
Here, I learned to find the middle ground, to respect their preference and to keep suggesting alternative designs. Eventhough in the end, they're the ones who choose and I learn to accept it.
2
Understand what users need the most
Some clients just want fast and done, not considering the looks. This time I learned to communicate well and ensure clients that looks does matter on a professional website. Then I simplify my design and communicate more with the developer if my design is easy to develop or not.
